Wow! One sixth of the world uses GSM! Pretty impressive. I wonder how many people have landlines these days. Probably more but mobile phone penetration will overtake traditional phone service someday soon..

More interesting is the fact that 90% of new customers in the U.S. choose GSM over other technologies. This has to be disconcerting to Sprint since they are not a GSM provider and have professed no plans to move to GSM technology. Will Sprint PCS stand the challenge? Unless they improve their customer service, I doubt it.
