A weblog dedicated to wikipedia.org? Why not. The content is free, after all. The Wikipedia offers hundreds of thousands of articles of information - that’s right, hundreds of thousands. Of course, many of those hundreds of thousands are rather short but the sheer volume of information is amazing.
So Wikipedia has lots of great articles… but why a weblog? I was inspired by a post over on Gadgetopia to setup a weblog highlighting good Wikipedia articles. The idea is that each weekday you can stop by here and read a post from the Wikipedia. I will strive to be objective and non-partisan. I will also strive to post articles that are appropriate for all ages.
I enjoy reading and learning something new and what better way to do that than by opening a encyclopedia, turning to some random page, and reading? I will take care of the opening and choosing, you get to do the reading. Don’t like my choice? Don’t read. If you would like to suggest a Wikipedia article for the weblog, email me.
I certainly don’t expect everyone to benefit from every article. After all, the web is a very large and diverse place. I doubt if every article will impress everyone with its witticism and scholarship. But if just one person learns something new each day…
In any case, enjoy.
