Cheap Ipod

Want a cheap ipod? How about a free ipod? That’s what I’m talking about! The guys over at freeipods.com are giving away ipods. Must be a scam… No, actually it’s a numbers game. You sign up for one of their offers. You generally need a credit card to sign up and they have deals with ebay, AOL, and several other companies. You may cancel your membership with the service you signup for without further obligation and no cost if you find it is not to your liking so it is possible to get a free ipod.

GPopMail was developed by Martin Gagne. GPopMail offers POP3 access to your GMail account and requires the .Net framework. I have not tried it so if you have leave a comment.

GMailUsers.com

Kathie Fry has put together a GMail website by the name of GMailUsers.com. GMailUsers.com’s intent is to be “A hub of information for Gmail users around the world including articles, news, FAQs, forums, tutorials, Web sites, and more about the new Google email service released in beta version by Google on April 1, 2004.” Whew, that is a mouthful! Kathie offers some articles that can’t be found elsewhere but she neglects to list me. :(

Update: Kathie does list me… and her site is pretty active.

GMail Icons for Windows

Buster Collings has put together a little package that creates a GMail shortcut on your desktop with a custom icon. It will also place a link in Internet Explorer and an icon on your quick launch bar. Certainly not the most full-featured utility to date but what it does, it does well.

Pagerank for Firefox and Mozilla

Someone has finally written a Google pagerank indicator for Firefox and Mozilla. My browsing since switching to Firefox has lacked that certain Google feel without the little red bar to indicate the relative popularity of the page I am viewing. My life is complete and yours can be too -

GMailTray

Zach Tong has written a couple of great search tools for GMail. His GMail search tool for Windows runs iconified in the system task tray and offers a search bar when needed. The main requirement is that you are logged into GMail using cookies when using the search utility. This tool requires the .Net framework, a rather hefty download but you will need it for other software sooner or later so just get it. Zach earns the title of “Mr. GMail Search” due to his creation of two GMail search tools, this one and one that works with Mozilla.

Gmail Search Plugin for Mozilla

Zach Tong has written a couple of great search tools for GMail. His GMail search plug-in for Mozilla integrates into the search bar (via the dropdown on the box) and invokes a GMail powered search using the terms you specify in the search box. This is a great little extension for Mozilla. I leave the search box set to GMail searches and use the Google toolbar for Google searches. Very handy.

Source of Life Ultra

One of the problems with running a TV 24 hours a day is you tend to absorb the infomercials subliminally while you sleep or read. One of those make a million in real estate guys is now pushing “The BEST Damn Vitamin in the World” and he wants me to help him sell it! He will even setup a webpage for me… wow. I’ll bet the page is awesome and who knows, I might even get rich pushing his crap. ;)

DBXConv

DBXConvert, written by Ulrich Krebs, will export messages in Outlook Express versions 5 and 6 and store the resulting data in either mBox or EML format. Using the mBox format you can then use either GML or gExodus to import your mail into GMail. Best of all, the program is free and the C++ source is available.
