Noticed this yesterday - Apparently Google has enabled a new feature on the SPAM folder. It now displays the number of SPAMs you have - probably so you will delete them. I assume this is another step on Google’s part to push some of us to eliminate the SPAM on a regular basis. I imagine all that SPAM is eating a lot of storage space at HQ.

If google found spam was using too much space, they could change the amount of time for the automatic deletion. I think the reason it was added was because it was requested by users. My spam is getting better since the automatic deletion was added - I’m down to 3185 messages. Note that there’s still no easy way to delete that many emails.
