Update: The bandwidth monster killed Bjarke’s site so I have mirrored the installation file here. You should still stop by his site to get the skinny… Also, please note that I am in no way responsible for the content of gmailfs.zip. I am simply mirroring Bjarke’s efforts here so that users can get the code. Any bugs should be reported to Bjarke.
It’s the tool I have been waiting for - GMail Drive compliments of Bjarke Viksoe. Now you can mount a drive under Windows and attach it to your GMail account. Certainly better than a USB drive… after all, you won’t forget your GMail account at home when you go on that business trip. This quote from the GMail Drive site says it all -
GMail Drive is a Shell Namespace Extension that creates a virtual filesystem around your Google GMail account, allowing you to use GMail as a storage medium.
GMail Drive creates a virtual filesystem on top of your Google GMail account and enables you to save and retrieve files stored on your GMail account directly from inside Windows Explorer. GMail Drive literally adds a new drive to your computer under the My Computer folder, where you can create new folders, copy and drag’n'drop files to.
Ever since Google started to offer users a GMail e-mail account, which includes storage space of a 1000 megabytes, you have had plenty of storage space but not a lot to fill it up with. With GMail Drive you can easily copy files to your GMail account and retrieve them again.
When you create a new file using GMail Drive, it generates an e-mail and posts it to your account. The e-mail appears in your normal Inbox folder, and the file is attached as an e-mail attachment. GMail Drive periodically checks your mail account (using the GMail search function) to see if new files have arrived and to rebuild the directory structures. But basically GMail Drive acts as any other hard-drive installed on your computer.
You can copy files to and from the GMail Drive folder simply by using drag’n'drop like you’re used to with the normal Explorer folders.
Version 1.02 included the following changes:
* “Send To” context menu
* Option to preserve filenames in attachments
* Option to use HTTPS only (secure)
* Cookies don’t interfere with GMail Notifier
* Proxy authentication support
* Several bugfixes
Version 1.03 included the following changes:
* fixed login routine
* bug-fixes
* slightly improved download speed
Version 1.04 has been released and includes the following changes:
* fixed login routine
* display of proper file-icons
Version 1.05 has been released and includes the following changes:
* fixed login routine in response to Google change
Version 1.06 has been released and includes the following changes:
* fixed login routine in response to Google change
Version 1.07 has been released and includes the following changes:
* fixed enumeration routine in response to Google change
Do you see a trend here? Yes, Google keeps breaking the login routines of these third-party utilities.
It’s necessary to uninstall, reboot and reinstall - to replace the old version.
So general notes on features -
* GD supports 40 character file names.
* GD files are limited to GMail’s attachment file limits (a bit under 10mb).
* GD does not explicitly support proxies (using a SOCKS proxy for all outgoing IP traffic would likely work).
* GD supports one account.
* GD uses IE under the covers so if you use IE to access your mail account and have another GDrive account you will be logging in over and over when you go to access your mail.
* GD can be uninstalled in the standard manner - Control Panel, Add/Remove programs.
* GD does not encrypt attachments placed in your GMail account. Act accordingly.
* GMail does not like zip files. Rename them prior to placing them in your GDrive.
Does it work? You bet! Caching would be useful when adding files as it takes a while to mail the file to GMail but the software seems to work OK based on my limited use today. News via [Digital Media Minute] which is a great resource for web developers.
NOTE NOTE NOTE: To change user account, click on the GMail Drive view (filelist), then in the File menu, choose Login As…

This site has removed the link due to the huge amount of downloads, does anyone have a mirror???
October 8th, 2004 @2:29 pm
It appears that Google has put a file size limit on “attachments”. I’ve installed GMail Drive and tried a couple quick uploads. One was a tar.bz2 file that weighs in at 23MB. After dragging the file over to the GMail Drive window, it worked for a while then returned an error message stating that “File is too big. GMail does currently not support files larger than 10 Mb.”
October 8th, 2004 @3:08 pm
Great point Steve. GMail does have an attachment size limit which does limit the usefulness of these file system extensions. One solution would be to handle file splitting in the tool.
October 8th, 2004 @4:03 pm
does somebody know if it works through a proxy server and if you can configure the ports of the proxy?
Greetings
October 8th, 2004 @4:27 pm
Hmmm. No proxy settings in the application but it does make use of IE so maybe you are OK for the port 80 stuff (GMail queries). I think you will need to be able to send mail (attachments) via port 25 (SMTP) though.
October 8th, 2004 @5:36 pm
Is there any limit for the no of character of the file name? it seems it does not support windows long file name.
thanks
October 8th, 2004 @6:35 pm
40 chars, I believe.
October 8th, 2004 @7:46 pm
hi,can anyone upload .zip files? Mine can’t. The error reads:
Sorry, for security reasons, Gmail does not allow you to send this type of attachment.

What we need is your assurance that our logins and passwords are kept away from potentially prying eyes. Let’s have that source code, please!
October 9th, 2004 @7:31 am
Is there a way to run multiple copies of GMail Drive. I have more than one account.
October 9th, 2004 @8:01 am
how to uninstall this Gmailfs?
October 9th, 2004 @9:29 am
Two things:
I have multiple accounts and using this, the gmail checker gets confused and starts checking this account for new mail instead of my real one. It must be the way it’s logging in… is there a work around this?
Also, how do you uninstall/change the account info once it is setup?
Great tool though!

I made a typo it seems when typing my gmail password for the first time, now the program always tryes to log in with the incorrect password. Anyone know how to make the damed thing forget the password? Reinstalling does not work.
October 9th, 2004 @10:21 am
How about a system to split files > 10 MB into smaller chunks of 10 MB or less each, then upload them all?
For example:
User uploads bigfile.big, which is 55 MB.
GMail Drive uploads:
1_F5F1D96B-9A92-4627-9FC5-CFEFB1BE5AF2 (10 MB)
2_F5F1D96B-9A92-4627-9FC5-CFEFB1BE5AF2 (10 MB)
3_F5F1D96B-9A92-4627-9FC5-CFEFB1BE5AF2 (10 MB)
4_F5F1D96B-9A92-4627-9FC5-CFEFB1BE5AF2 (10 MB)
5_F5F1D96B-9A92-4627-9FC5-CFEFB1BE5AF2 (10 MB)
6_F5F1D96B-9A92-4627-9FC5-CFEFB1BE5AF2 (5 MB)
!_F5F1D96B-9A92-4627-9FC5-CFEFB1BE5AF2 (< 1 KB)
!_[guid] is a descriptor file listing the original filename and how many parts there are. [guid] is a nonbracketed GUID.
One other idea is encryption. On installation, GMail Drive should generate a random encryption key. All uploads should be encrypted with that key, and all downloads should be decrypted with it.
October 9th, 2004 @10:35 am
There is no way to mount multiple GMail drives yet. He is using embedded IE code so the cookie is set to one account and you can only mount one drive within his code at this point. Personally, I see the tool as pushing beyond Google’s intent for GMail and support for multiple GMail drives is a sure way to get the tool banned quickly.
October 9th, 2004 @10:37 am
Great question. How do you uninstall the code? I have asked Bjarke.
October 9th, 2004 @10:41 am
Multiple accounts are not really supported as the enbedded IE code accesses the GMail cookie. You need to use multiple browsers to access multiple accounts easily. Understand that this goes well beyond Google’s intent and so most app authors are unwilling to deal with the problem. If you were to use Firefox for your non-drive account and IE for your drive account you would be in good shape. Multiple GMail Drives are not supported on the same machine.
October 9th, 2004 @10:44 am
When in the drive view, while viewing the drive, the File menu has an option to change the login account. Once you get past the error (if you entered the wrong account info or you want to change your account info..) the option is accessable.

hi, i have two questions:
1. after installing the GmailFS, everytime i tried use firefox to check my gmail, it crashes firefox. also, sometimes when i right click the Gdrive and select properties, it crashes explorer.
2. how do i uninstall it as a last resort to fix these problems?
thanks
October 9th, 2004 @11:21 am
I don’t know how to uninstall gmailfs but I did the trick by using system restore to back the date before installing it (my computer is Windows XP)
October 9th, 2004 @11:29 am
I want to use Gmail drive but i don’t know if i can’t to set up a proxy for it because i have a proxy to connect to the internet.
October 9th, 2004 @11:48 am
i noticed that u can uninstall from the add/remove in the control panel.
October 9th, 2004 @12:24 pm
but i don’t want to uninstall it if i can fix the problem :S
i really like this program but the bugs are really annoying.
October 9th, 2004 @1:07 pm
Hi, I’ve installed gmailfs and have a problem with it. Every time I click the drive I’m logged into gmail without any password request.
I share the computer with a few others, and would rather they not read my mail. Any suggestions?
October 9th, 2004 @1:46 pm
it does not work with firefox,as i get errors mid way in transfer
thus we are limited to ONE gmail ac correct?
October 9th, 2004 @1:49 pm
Bjarke was kind enough to point out that you can uninstall from Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.
October 9th, 2004 @1:52 pm
also,it refuses to copy files with “big” file names
October 9th, 2004 @1:57 pm
Some thoughts - GMail Drive requires IE, not Firefox. Therefore, you need IE installed. This should not be a problem for most people as removing IE is not trivial.
If you use IE to access GMail, GMail drive will interfere with your cookies if you have two accounts. To support multiple accounts you need multiple browser brands. IE, Firefox, and Netscape will get you access to three GMail accounts without the hassle of logging in but Google doesn’t really want you to have multiple accounts. At least not yet.
Proxy is a big question in my mind. Since GD uses IE it would seem that you should be OK for pulling the files in but you need open access to port 25 for mail I think and standard proxy will not provide this. Therefore, in proxy situations you are screwed. This is my speculation as I don’t use proxy and have not tested.
October 9th, 2004 @2:23 pm
great utility! Thanks a million times!
October 9th, 2004 @3:12 pm
This util is great but only works for me if I turn my firewall (ZoneAlarm) off completely. Anyone else using the freeware version of ZoneAlarm successfully with GMail drive? If so, please tell me how.

I had to forward port 25 (smtp) and it worked perfectly aferwards
October 9th, 2004 @4:55 pm
Windows Explorer needs access to the net. A problem for me with getting the program to work.
The username and password is stored in a cookie. The same cookie used by IE to log into Gmail.
I didn’t seem to have any problem with .zip files.

I found a problem when I changed my password on http://www.gmail.com. There’s no way to modify the username/password in the properties menu of Gmaildrive once I let the Gmaildrive to remember my username/password. I’d try to uninstall the Gmaildrive and reinstall it, but it still remember the old username/password.
October 9th, 2004 @10:57 pm
1. this is a known limitation
2. that sounds like a bug. i would encourage you to email Bjarke with details.
3. security is always an issue. Bjarke has not release the source at
this point so use at your own risk.
October 10th, 2004 @12:10 am
This is a cool hack! I did find another bug, though; it doesn’t handle apostrophes in filenames properly. Dragging a file called “joe’s diner.txt” into the GMail drive generates a directory called “joe” containing a file “’sdiner.txt”. Dragging the folder, or the file, back to the local filesystem doesn’t regenerate the right name. But otherwise a cool hack!
October 10th, 2004 @1:43 am
Any way to get the source code? I would like a version for Mozilla.

i was wondering if there was a way to download the attachments as the actual file from the web based gmail service. the subject of the file seems correct with the correct file name and extension, but when i try to download the attachment, it says the file name is part01.bin. any help?
October 10th, 2004 @4:32 am
When I log in to Gmail normally I see that the files are renamed to part01.bin. Is it possible to maintain the original file name. (Except for .zip and other problem extensions.)

Is it too early to request mods?
When you add .xls, .doc, etc. files, they all just say file type = “File” instead of the specific type. Any chance that might be improved? This looks like a fantastic tool so far - thanks!!

Please explain how i can change the login details. I apparently made a typo in the adress or password and there’s no opportunity to change that.
October 11th, 2004 @5:30 am
Great tool. But I think if it support following features, it’ll be greater.
1. Encryption when save data to gmail.
2. Compression when save data to gmail.
3. transparently split big file to small files.
4. Transparently Rename the file name, if it’s restricted by gmail for security reason.
October 11th, 2004 @7:23 am
hey, gmail alouws u 2 upload attachments around 20 MB, when u compose an email, but when you use this program to drag files into your gmail acout, it says gmail doesn’t support files larger than 10 mb… y is that?
Thanx
October 11th, 2004 @3:24 pm
I really think the source code should be released.
Not only will it set my mind at peace that my password will not be stolen, but it would allow for many community modifications such as encryption, automatic downloads of certain files only, and file splitting.
October 11th, 2004 @3:58 pm
way cool but way buggy. it would be great if it could include compression and auto file splitting.
October 12th, 2004 @12:04 am
If you have WinRAR, this batch file should compress, encrypt, and chunk an archive into 10MB chunks automatically in 1 pass. You could then store each file to your gmail account. Obviously you wanna change the path and password to your liking before running. I suggest a strong password (no less than 10 chars with upper and lowercase, numbers and punctuation). Just copy the text below into a .bat file.
SET PATH=”path of file or folder to encrypt/compress/chunk”
SET PASS=”password”
“C:\Program Files\WinRAR\rar.exe” a -hp%PASS% -m5 -v10000 %PATH%.rar %PATH%

Will the gmail drive be released for Linux?
October 12th, 2004 @8:44 am
I think this is a great application and people should stop bitchin and thank the guy that created it. He took the original incarnation which was on a Linux system and created a windows counter part. Thats f*** great! Also I think everyone asking for source code is f*** rude. Maybe he doesn’t want to give the source out because he worked so hard on it. Maybe he wants to eventually sell it as a app. You don’t know what he wants to do with it and its his choice not yours. If he does submit it as open source, fine it will get developed faster and features will be added. But let that be his choice not yours. And if you don’t like this app so much than go make your own with your own code god forbid.

3. modify to your heart’s desire. i personally use a copy of google.ico saved to c:\windows\system32

I’m getting the following error whenever any uploads larger than about 6000kb finish:
“An error occured: Unable to create file.
System Error Message:
The Handle is in the wrong state for the requested operation”
The cut off point for error-or-not appears to be somewhere between 5745KB and 6003KB (smaller files upload fine).
The file appears to show up all the same, but getting that error every time means I can’t upload multiple (large) files unattended.
October 14th, 2004 @2:22 am
Suggestion (please!):
Silently log all errors to a log file instead of popup dialog windows so that attachments can continue sending.

Great app!! if you do decide to release its source then a mighty fair play to you but if you decide to sell it as well then thats fair play too as i heard you put alot of work into this and stripped it from linux or something?
couple of things tho..
i uploaded a file with it and after signing into my gmail account its saved as a .bin file but after downloading that and trying to mount or open with various things its corrupted. creating a .cue is useless.
but i can at least drag n drop it back from the gmail drive back onto my hdd.
i know it may be cheecky but i would really like to see the source code for it as, as much as i like gdrive id like to know how secure my gmail login details are and how secure the whole thing is.
Thanks tho im really liking it

______________________________________________
Just found this out after some experimenting…
Alot of people are having trouble with gdrive renaming the extension of uploaded files(drag n dropped to .bin so what you have to do is when signing into your gmail account to download a file simply rename the extension back to what it was originally.
say if i upload AnImage.jpg gdrive renames it to part01.bin so when downloading choose to “save as” or “save link as” by right clicking the link and then renaming it to its original name and extension, ie; AnImage.jpg and itll be fine
Hope that helps alot of people out who havent worked it out yet.

I confirm the SP2 bug ‘The security identifier provided is not from an account domain’.
I had GMailFS installed + running without problems before installing XP SP2. Now while “Logging on to GMail” I get this error message “An error occured: Login Failed. System Error Message: The security identifier provided is not from an account domain.”
Has anyone got an idea for a fix or workaround ?
October 17th, 2004 @12:21 pm
I tested GmailFS,but it lost connect to gmail too many times, why not use the HTTPS protocal by enable TLS 1.0 like I access gmail. It’s stronger.

[quote]Hi, when I try to login with my 100% correct username and password, I get this:
“an error occurred: Login failed”
What could be the problem? I tested my login data several times, but just can’t login.

you dont delete it, if you would have read the comments here you would have seen that you can uninstall it via add/remove in control panel.

Greetings,
What does the preserve filename option do? I have uploaded and downloaded files with the option on and off and I see no change.

(I posted this before, but it got buried in the mass of other comments, so I’m reposting it)
How about a system to split files > 10 MB into smaller chunks of 10 MB or less each, then upload them all?
For example:
User uploads bigfile.big, which is 55 MB.
GMail Drive uploads:
1_F5F1D96B-9A92-4627-9FC5-CFEFB1BE5AF2 (10 MB)
2_F5F1D96B-9A92-4627-9FC5-CFEFB1BE5AF2 (10 MB)
3_F5F1D96B-9A92-4627-9FC5-CFEFB1BE5AF2 (10 MB)
4_F5F1D96B-9A92-4627-9FC5-CFEFB1BE5AF2 (10 MB)
5_F5F1D96B-9A92-4627-9FC5-CFEFB1BE5AF2 (10 MB)
6_F5F1D96B-9A92-4627-9FC5-CFEFB1BE5AF2 (5 MB)
!_F5F1D96B-9A92-4627-9FC5-CFEFB1BE5AF2 (< 1 KB)
!_[guid] is a descriptor file listing the original filename and how many parts there are. [guid] is a nonbracketed GUID.
One other idea is encryption. On installation, GMail Drive should generate a random encryption key. All uploads should be encrypted with that key, and all downloads should be decrypted with it.

Guys maybe some of you should read the damn readme and the top of this damn site everyone once and awhile.

BTW even before it was posted all you had to do was click File menu and you would of seen it.
October 18th, 2004 @5:52 pm
TO RESET YOUR PASSWORD:
Open Internet Explorer.
Go to Tools, Internet Options.
Delete Cookies.
Delete Files (and all offline content).
Click on the Content tab.
Click on AutoComplete.
Clear Forms.
Clear Passwords.
Ok all the way out and close IE and Explorer.
Next time you try to open the Gmail Drive it should ask for the password.
That may be overkill but I did it all and it cleared it, and now I can’t get it to clear it again.
October 18th, 2004 @7:24 pm
If you ticked “autoconnect” but need to change your login details, let the gmail drive login error out, the go to file > log in as …, and put in the correct username and password.
October 19th, 2004 @12:19 am
I originally had problems loging in and realised that it kept on giving me password errors. This is where i though MY password had : and / and ) and other types on non alphanumerical values for the password obviously Gmail drive cannot login in your password has thes values. Also if running zone alarm i have found that files only save onto the drive it it is completely turned off (ZA)

I like the convenience that GMAILFS provided. However it’s a little tedious for me to partition files into size less than 10MB in order to put files with size greater than 10MB to the GMAIL account.
So i suggest this program can be further improved if there is mechanism to allow big files to be put to GMAIL. Of course, the limit for each mail is 10MB, but the program should be able to partition big files and recombine for users automatically. I am glad to see this improvement.

The previous comment instruct as below:
“How to change your Gmail Drive’s icon:
1. open registry editor
2. navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{2B3453E4-49DF-11D3-8229-0080BE509050}\DefaultIcon
3. modify to your heart’s desire. i personally use a copy of google.ico saved to c:\windows\system32
i know someone will want to know this eventually.”
the default value is “%SystemRoot%\System32\shell32.dll,8″
But I found that I can’t change the icon. What is the value for me to replace it with a picture like gmail.gif?
October 19th, 2004 @8:27 pm
I can’t seem to make a desktop shortcut for the GMail drive…any ideas? All i get is:

October 20th, 2004 @1:02 am
Many people encounter the problem which the uploaded file extension changed to .bin (ie. part01.bin). This occurred as you are still using the old version of the Gmail Drive. If you update it to the latest version(v1.02 currently), the problem should be solved. However, I have found out another problem with the Gmail Drive. I noticed that the file downloaded from the email attachment by signing into your gmail account through http://www.gmail.com always has 1 byte in size larger than the original file. This is not a problem if your file is the type of document as you still can open it and view it. However, for the file ends with ‘.EXE’, it cannot be executed due to the change in size. Hopefully, this bug can be solved in the next version.

I too am having a problem connecting to gmail with gmail drive on one computer (it works on my other computer).
“An error occured: Login Failed.
System Error Message:
The security identifier provided is not from an account domain.”
October 20th, 2004 @1:32 pm
Both computers are xp sp2 btw.
October 20th, 2004 @3:55 pm
Great work dude,
just some improvements are necessary.
1) split big files.
2) bigger name for files.
3) multiple accounts handling.
4) add compression.

I can’t upload files anymore, since a couple of days!!
Only download or only atteched mail files are accepted.
Any infos about that?
October 22nd, 2004 @7:13 am
Not sure if this is useful or not, but i found it useful:
The tool uses the [subject] of the email as reference when you see the file in file explorer.
i.e.
Subject:GMAILFS: /downloads/EnterpriseEngineering.doc [126976;a;1]
GMAILFS: [application name]
/downloads/*.doc : [the directory + filename
[126976;a;1] : first number is size of file, second i asume is property [archive, hidden etc]
not sure about last part.
So you can technically compose an email, use the above subject format, attach some file and it’ll show up in your gmail drive.
Interesting tidbits:
1. Does not matter what you actually attach! In gmail drive it will show only what is in the SUBJECT.
—> you can attach “xxx.mp3″ and make the subject say “myspecialexcelsheet.xls” with size of 1kb. In the gmail drive you will then see “myspecialexcelsheet.xls : 1 kb”. BUT when you download/copy/paste it will be size of actual attachment…the name of pasted file will also be ‘myspecialexcelsheet.xls’, but if you rename it to xxx.mp3 it’ll be in fact the original file you attached.

REJOICE!!!
I’ve figured out what causes the error below:
“An error occured: Login Failed.
System Error Message:
The security identifier provided is not from an account domain.”
I have my default internet zone on higher than default security (scriping/activex/etc disabled) so I add the sites I want to use scripting etc added to my trusted zone…
In your internet control panel, security settings, you must ENABLE the option “Web sites in less priviledged web content zone can navigate into this zone” to the default or trusted zone (or whatever zone you have *.google.com in).
It works for me now yay!!!!!
October 22nd, 2004 @5:18 pm
A very cool program that has NO attachment limit is peer2mail (http://www.peer2mail.com). It works with varios webmail services not just gmail. It also gives you the ability to share your webmail space in a secure manner. Very cool

Don’t like P2M. It’s easy to use, just a pain uploading and downloading files, and merging them so you can use them. I would rather just upload the files manually.

can i do smth that other people could send to their pc out o my gmail drive? but they don’t know the login, could they download any file? and if they can, how could they? or what should i do to make it possible?
October 27th, 2004 @5:35 am
How about an option to send the contents of certain files as the message body? I’ve been trying to find a way to store log files from various IM clients, and having this feature would allow _google searching of my very own log files_ :B.
October 27th, 2004 @9:32 pm
First: Thanks!
Second: It would be pretty really nice to add a bunch of information about the file by encoding this into the message body instead of the header. This would allow much longer pathnames/filenames, saving of creation and modification dates, segments(if GMail Drive is extended to automatically segment and reassemble large files), and maybe other meta/filesystem information.

Can’t remember if anyone has said this before, but, anyone having trouble sending mail because of the Gmail censorship can just double rar or just once ace your files, then, no matter what you have compressed will be sent.
November 1st, 2004 @12:55 pm
When I try GMailFS on Windows NT 4.0. Setup gets the error message:
RUNDLL: Error loading C:\WINNT\System32\ShellExt\GMailFS.dll
The specified procedure could not be found
In fact, the DLL is there.
(Add/)Remove programs applied to GMailFS gives the same error.

GmailFS has not functioned for me since 11/2/04. Gmail seemed to go down momentarily (about 5 mins) and other people from across the country with whom I was speaking at the time reported the same thing. It came back up and I can access my gmailfs account when logging in as a user but the gmailfs has stopped working. I’m experiencing the same thing from home and work. Anyone know whats up? Having the same problem? Not having this problem?
Thanks,
Phill

system error message: unable to open the network connection profile
gmailfs does not work anymore. don’t know why? did google do something to block it?
November 3rd, 2004 @12:28 pm
Just a bit more info on the problem…
Two files were uploaded on 11/1/2004 without a problem.
11/2/2004 Logging on to GMail…
Pop-up: An error occurred: Login Failed.
System Error Message: Unable to open the network connection profile.
Pop-up: GMailFS was unable to open the volume and enumerate the files.
Verify connection to internet & GMail.
I can log into the account without error.
Same on Win2k & XP/SP2 platforms.
Also, trying to use “Send-To” at all just produces the first error.
Great program! Surely it’s use is too far down in the noise for Google to care.

Yahoo! mail also provide a 1G mail box, (but you have to change your language to Simplify Chinese to get it, then you can go back to your own language but still keeping the 1G space) is there a shell extention for yahoo mail to make it as a hard drive? Since yahoo is more easy to apply.

With version 1.3, I can create a new folder, but it disappears on refresh. When I copy a folder (with files/folders) it creates a “file” for the “.” like “GMAILFS: /To_CD/. [14;a;1]“, which doesn’t seam to be needed since when it is moved to the trash gFS drive still enumerates correctly.
Thanks, and keep up the good work.

Suggestions:
Add possibility to send file with spaces without sobstitute spaces with underscore
Add possibility to drag and drop with right click
Add files compression with zlib (http://www.gzip.org/zlib/) prior to send files (dividing file >=10MB in more files)
Add speed (KB/s) in posting file dialog
Create automatically a filter in gmail for e-mails that in subject have GMAILFS : Skip the Inbox (Archive it) and Apply the label: GMAILFS
Add possibility to drag and drop from a folder in GMail Drive to another folder in GMail Drive
Mount another Drive for viewing normal e-mails

installed gmailfs 1.03
rebooted
entered logon info, clicked ok
error message comes up:
An error occured: Logon failed
System Error Message:
The server name or addres could not be resolved
click ok
error message comes up:
GMailFS was unable to open the volume and enumerate the files.
verify connection to internet and Gmail
added https://gmail.google.com and http://www.gmail.com to trusted sites in internet properties
same problem still
system specs:
fresh install WinXP *SP1*
Zone alarm Pro (no messages or alerts popped up)
all google cookies accepted
what XP services need to be enabled for this to work properly? most are disabled for security reasons and the help file that comes with gmailfs is rather lacking in any real info, and there is no proper forum for this app to get problems properly addressed and fixed
