Uh… doesn’t this defeat the purpose of all those really expensive satellites? XM has announced XM Satellite Radio Online coming to a computer near you this month. At $7.99 I’d say there is some serious profit in there. $3.99 if you are a current XM subscriber. Of course, the XM PCR had these bases covered until XM caved to RIAA pressure. Fair use and technical innovation be damned. Good thing Tivo isn’t filled with spineless wussies.

Yeah, it probably is costing them subs, especially in radios that were used at home/work. On the other hand, Sirius has been offering this as part of their $13/mo plan already, so this makes XM+Internet only $1 more expensive than the competition. Internet streaming really is the best way, since I think I’m not alone in my desire (and inability) to listen to radio at work. I’ll probably sign up for XM’s streaming after I cancel my PCR.
Incidentally, their player is a lot nicer than I thought it would be. I wonder how Sirius’s is?

I subscribed to XM online when it was first offered, and it is great. Teriffic interface and wonderful sound.
