Technology makes life better. Of course, all technology comes with a price. The price we pay for all the constant connectivity we now have is less human interaction on a personal level. My left ear flashes blue every couple of seconds from my bluetooth headset and my right ear is wired permanently into my iPod. Fortunately, the price you have to pay for the ultimate in indoor gardening is only $150.00 and not the thousands I’ve sunk into my iPods, Blackberries, Tivos, Bluetooth doodads, etc.

The AeroGarden lacks an earphone, but that’s about it. This little indoor garden grows veggies, flowers, and herbs without dirt. It contains a special lightbulb and a computer that handles the complicated tasks of when to shine the special light and when to let the plant rest. Additional seed packs aren’t inexpensive ($20), but that’s a small price to pay for the ultimate post-modern techno garden.

Indoor gardening can be tricky and most plants don’t do well without special nutrient solutions and special lighting. The AeroGarden provides both with the added advantage of no soil requirement. Will your AeroGarden be as bountiful as the pictures? Possibly. Is the AeroGarden plant and forget – hardly. The AeroGarden provides everything you need, but don’t expect to grow a garden to feed an army – or even a party of 4. The garden is best suited for growing spices or garnish tomatoes. There’s just not enough room to grow an appreciable amount of anything else in this little gadget.
