CAT | WikiWisdom

At the beginning of this year I launched a weblog called WikiWisdom to present what I felt were outstanding examples of the content available on Wikipedia. (What is the Wikipedia? The largest, freely available encyclopedia written by enthusiasts in the universe.) Well, I set the bar a little to high. Can any one person maintain two blogs successfully? All I know is I am not that person. I ran out of gas pretty quickly only delivering 27 entries over a six week period. I had over extended myself.

Enter Brian Mingus. He is a Wikipediac like me. Actually, he might be a bigger Wikipediac than me. In any case, he emailed me and expressed interest in the domain name wikiwisdom.com and setting up a Wikipedia-centered blog. I agreed. You see, I didn’t want the domain to languish unused forever but I also prefered that the domain be used for Wikipedia-related matters and that is exactly what Brian is going to do.

He is taking wikiwisdom.com in a slighly different direction that me – he is aiming for a more meta viewpoint. He will be blogging on Wikipedia community happenings as well as highlighting cool and interesting Wikipedia articles.

Here is his first entry:

This blog will keep its thumb on the pulse of the Wikipedia online community and happenings within. The mailing lists, IRC channels, Village Pump, and others are all pouring with information and this will be a repository for the musings and gossipry. In addition, the 1 million article milestone is approaching (September 15th!), and with all of that information a few priceless gems often surface which will be highlighted here. (ex: Did you know that Alan Keyes once jumped into a Mosh Pit?). If you have suggestions or entries that you would like to see published, feel free to e-mail WikiWisdom with your suggestions, and in true Wikipedia fashion, make sure to send lots of links!

‘nough said. I recommend you visit WikiWisdom over the next few weeks. I expect Brian will give it the love and nourishment that I could not. And if you have never checked out the Wikipedia, I suggest you do so immediately.
