THANK YOU FOR VISITING OUR AUCTION ---------------------------------- COTTAGE and CASTLE ------------------- ---------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION: * RARE ANTIQUE FLOW BLUE MULBERRY PLATE -19TH CENTURY * This is a beautiful antique flow blue ploychrome plate that is c. 1860. We are told by flow blue experts that this plate is made by the English potter Charles Meigh who was among the numerous potters in mid 19th Century England who placed the fake Chinese backstamp on their works, such as this plate has. The plate features a design which includes flowers, leaves and birds and is known as the Mulberry Polychrome design. In addition to the dark flow blue there are also touches of rust, peach, yellow, green & pink. The plate measures about 9 ¼” in diameter. On the back it has a fake Oriental mark (commonly used by many of the English potters of the time) and flow blue vines around the edges. It is in good condition with just one very tiny back ship on the back (see last photo) which can only be seen on very close inspection. There are no other chips, cracks or crazing. MAGNIFICENT BABES IN THE WOODS FLOW BLUE JARDINIERE WOW Today we are pleased to offer an outstanding antique item in a large flow blue jardiniere. This one is rather special as it features two babies or cherubs fast asleep in the woods. We found this one at an estate some time ago and we are pleased to offer this outstanding item for your consideration. The reverse side is a mountain scene with a lake in the foreground. The top of the jardiniere is a floral pattern with touches of gold accent. The condition for it's age is excellent and there are no chips, cracks or repairs. There is some crazing but it is very light. This one measures 14 1/2" from handle to handle. The height is 8 1/2" and the top opening is 9 1/2". We were very pleased to get this one and we have had it on display for a while and now it is time to move this one to a new home where it can be enjoyed even more.
