This is the original theatre pressbook for an "X" rated movie that has one of the worse film titles in movie history...."CAN HEIRONYMUS MERKIN EVER FORGET MERCY HUMPPE AND FIND TRUE HAPPINESS'...the nut that came up with this title should be took out and, well you get the idea!. After all is said and done it is not a bad movie and this 1969 release has a nice cast of ANTHONY NEWLEY and his "then wife" JOAN COLLINS, MILTON BERLE and STUBBY KAYE. It also features shapely Connie Kreski -- a '69 Playboy playmate -- which may explain the 10 page spread that Playboy magazine gave to this X-rated movie. This really great pressbook is approximately 9x14 inches and has a very large number of 14 pages of original ads, write ups on the stars and the making of the film, star pictures, promotional items to help the sale of the film at the box office, the posters for the film and newpaper articles.----A great collectors item.----This outstanding pressbook is UNCUT. We're showing you one of the inside pages -- as the cover is published in a more 'censored' fashion, saving all the goodies for the inside. WHAT IS A PRESS BOOK??? Before about 1980 most of the selling of a movie was done by a local theatre manager.----After about 1980 the selling began to be done by 'nation wide-mass market T.V. advertising' that you see selling todays movies.----In order to sell the film locally the theatre manager usually needed some help in the way of promotions and ideas.----After about 1980 pressbooks no longer were made, but BEFORE that time they were a necessity and they came in all sizes. PRESSBOOKS were "promotional manuals" that were sent to the theatres BY THE FILM COMPANIES for the purpose of promoting the movie in the theatre where it was playing.

PRESSBOOKS usually contained stories about the movie, how it was made, stories about the stars of the movie and pictures of the stars...all so that the theatre manager could take them to the local newpaper who would then usually run some of them as 'public interest' articles. The pressbooks would usually have things that the theatre could order to promote ...
