I’m really groovin on the new iPhone 32GB. Sweet, slick, and plenty fast. I have almost 2GB of apps – that’s about $500 worth of iTunes App Store. A bunch of dinero…

I didn’t enjoy reupping my contract to get a deal. I mean, what’s a deal when you’re paying retail? It’s definitely worth it though. Much faster. Much bigger. And the 3G beats my old 2G iPhone. The area where the iPhone continues to let me down is the lack of multitasking. So, get this. Steve-o is bragging about the iPhone being Mac OS X and all that. Last time I looked Mac OS X multitasked – well. The iPhone hardware is apparently just not able to allow developers to build apps and then run them multitasking.

Sure, no big deal if you just play games on your phone… but how about if you want to receive IMs? Or tweets? I could go on. So, instead of juicing up the hardware and allowing the iPhone to run many third party apps, Apple has built a multimillion dollar notification service that mostly works. Now developers can write custom software that caches updates, notifies Apple’s notification servers that they have an update for you, and then it will arrive on your phone. Then you can start the application and get the update. Sounds nifty until you consider that every other smartphone out there multitasks and allows developers and 3rd party applications to run in the background. On my old Blackberry I ran the Facebook app, email, Google Talk, MSN Messenger, Blackberry Messenger, and a handful of other apps well and all at the same time. Oh, and my email was true push. It came to me, not me to it.

This is painful for me. I love my iPhone, but it doesn’t love me enough to multitask my life. What should I do?

They claim the move is intended to increase reliability and efficiency of their products, but this also indicates that their profits are skyrocketing. Personally, I’ve never had any problems with the quality of the signature cotton bags I’ve purchased (even after washing), but I can understand them wanting to have more control over their product. This move will also allow them to push new designs into production faster. I am curious as to how they choose which designs actually make it into production. Do they set up focus groups that allow consumers to choose which patterns they prefer? Some of the designs I’ve seen were absolutely hideous, but most of the designs are quite colorful and lively.

They give me an excuse to continue my obsession! Within this blog I will share news and notable info on Vera, along with my own personal favorite patterns and bags. I’ve gotten some awesome deals on my Vera bags from ebay, although I’ll admit that some patterns need to be seen in person to be truly appreciated (or completely rejected). However, ebay offers the best prices on new or retired Vera accessories, and quick shipping!

Technology makes life better. Of course, all technology comes with a price. The price we pay for all the constant connectivity we now have is less human interaction on a personal level. My left ear flashes blue every couple of seconds from my bluetooth headset and my right ear is wired permanently into my iPod. Fortunately, the price you have to pay for the ultimate in indoor gardening is only $150.00 and not the thousands I’ve sunk into my iPods, Blackberries, Tivos, Bluetooth doodads, etc.

The AeroGarden lacks an earphone, but that’s about it. This little indoor garden grows veggies, flowers, and herbs without dirt. It contains a special lightbulb and a computer that handles the complicated tasks of when to shine the special light and when to let the plant rest. Additional seed packs aren’t inexpensive ($20), but that’s a small price to pay for the ultimate post-modern techno garden.

Indoor gardening can be tricky and most plants don’t do well without special nutrient solutions and special lighting. The AeroGarden provides both with the added advantage of no soil requirement. Will your AeroGarden be as bountiful as the pictures? Possibly. Is the AeroGarden plant and forget – hardly. The AeroGarden provides everything you need, but don’t expect to grow a garden to feed an army – or even a party of 4. The garden is best suited for growing spices or garnish tomatoes. There’s just not enough room to grow an appreciable amount of anything else in this little gadget.
